Detailed Introduction

Weldolet for Strong and Reliable Butt Weld Branch Connections

A Weldolet is a type of forged branch outlet fitting designed to create a reinforced branch connection between a main pipe and a smaller branch pipe. It uses a butt weld connection, allowing the branch pipe to be welded directly to the outlet fitting for a strong and permanent joint.

The specially designed contoured base of the Weldolet matches the curvature of the run pipe, providing excellent reinforcement and reducing stress concentration around the branch connection.

Compared with conventional fabricated branch connections, Weldolets offer improved reliability, easier installation, and better flow performance.

DTC manufactures and supplies forged Weldolet fittings according to ASME B16.11 and MSS SP-97 standards. Available materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, and low-temperature steel for various industrial applications.

Key Features of Weldolet

Reinforced Branch Design

The forged body provides additional reinforcement around the branch opening, improving strength and fatigue resistance.

Butt Weld Connection

The weld connection creates a permanent and reliable joint suitable for critical piping systems.

Excellent Stress Distribution

The contoured base design reduces stress concentration compared with fabricated branch connections.

Suitable for High Pressure Systems

Weldolets are widely used in demanding applications requiring high reliability and durability.

Compact Installation

The outlet design saves space compared with traditional tee fittings.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Weldolet?

A Weldolet is a forged branch outlet fitting used to connect a branch pipe to a main pipeline through a butt weld connection.

What is the difference between Weldolet and Sockolet?

Weldolet uses a butt weld connection and is suitable for a wider range of pipe sizes, while Sockolet uses a socket weld connection and is mainly used for smaller diameter pipes.

What standard does Weldolet follow?

Weldolets are commonly manufactured according to ASME B16.11 and MSS SP-97 standards.

Why use a Weldolet instead of a fabricated branch connection?

Weldolets provide better reinforcement, improved stress distribution, and easier installation compared with traditional fabricated branch connections.
