Avoiding the “Paperwork Trap”: Why DTC Conducts Independent PMI and Hardness Testing
The Risk of Document Fraud In the global PVF market, a certificate is only as good as the company behind it. Unfortunately, “paperwork-only” suppliers often pass off inferior materials with forged MTCs.
1. Positive Material Identification (PMI) At DTC, we don’t just trust the mill; we verify. We use handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers to perform PMI testing on-site. This ensures that the Stainless Steel 316L you paid for actually contains the 2.0% Molybdenum required for corrosion resistance.
2. Hardness Testing for Sour Service (NACE MR0175) For oil and gas projects involving H2S (Sour Service), the steel must not be too hard, or it will suffer from Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC). DTC performs mandatory Rockwell or Brinell hardness testing to ensure the material stays below the HRC 22 limit required by NACE standards.
